Easy Come, Easy GO
Do y'all remember this?
Or these kinds of stories:
The last two years have been INSANE when we look at things now. As they say, “Hindsight is 20 20”.
During this craze, it was hard not to get caught up in the hype. Everyone and their mom were talking about these "investors", who just became millionaires by betting big on these unknown cryptocurrencies. It felt like almost every other day a new millionaire was crowned either through an obscure stock that had exploded or through crypto or NFTs.
It was wild in 2020 and 2021. It felt like it could never end and we all needed to find the next Gamestop or AMC or Doge or Shiba or fill in the blank to ride the wave to millions. The music seemed to be eternal.
But then at some point for a variety of reasons, the music stopped.
Reality began to set back in.
Like turning on the light in a nightclub, people realize where they are and what they had been doing. Everyone scatters like cockroaches looking for the safest exit. Some make it out but most get crushed.
It’s interesting to me that no one ever talks about what happens to these “investors” later. No one ever asks, "Where are they now?" No article is ever written after things are unwound to see how those people are doing.
Well, I decided it was time to find out, for my own sanity. The only guy who has remained socially available was the DogeCoin Millionaire.
The article I picked on the DogeCoin Millionaire was specific because he really did not sell out after making millions. He kept holding on to the belief that Doge would get to $1 a coin. Now if he understood math, he would have understood how hard that would be and to be more honest how IMPOSSIBLE it was.
However, he had bought into his own hype. He had bought into his own fairy tale, forgetting it was a fairy tale. It's like a drug dealer who forgot that his primary objective is to sell the drugs not to use the drugs.
Doge of course like every other crypto has been getting destroyed. Going from an all-time high of 64¢ to now 8¢
Needless to say, he is no longer a millionaire. But the good news is he did not get completely wiped out. But he still holds onto his belief in Doge to $1.
What most people do not understand about easy money is the mentality that got you to make the money in the first place, doesn't just leave after the money has been made. People do not just become more risk-oriented.
That mentality drives you to believe you can repeat the feat over and over again.
So you can have someone who literally won the lottery of life and should take their money and RUN! But continue to play because they forget it was luck that got them there. They begin to believe they are the ISH and their poop don't stink.
This is the problem with Easy Money.
It is VERY DECEPTIVE!
It is built on a foundation of falsehoods.
It is clouded in mystery and intrigue.
It is made to be effortless and everlasting.
But in reality, IT NEVER IS!
Proverbs 13:11 says
Wealth gained hastily will dwindle,
but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.
It would be easy for me to point at all these folks and use them as examples while wagging my fingers.
But in those moments, I wanted to be a part of it. I wanted to be the guy who made millions by selling a rock image or buying Shiba and Doge when it was cheap. In all honestly, I still want to be any one of these people.
But I have to remind myself, that building slowly is not so bad.
I have to remind myself that the water may be high now but
