I spent last week with my family and I have to say it was pretty glorious. Even though I was sick for basically the entire week. It was awesome to be home and to be around people whom I love and who love me.
There is truly nothing better than TO LOVE and TO BE LOVED.
On my drive back to my place, Sunday night one thought kept ringing in my mind
Some things matter but
Some things are just MORE IMPORTANT.
During my time at home, I tried to keep up with all the business news and stock market happenings. But honestly, I just could not find the care enough to actually digest any of the information I was reading or listening to. Mainly because there was no space for me to digest the information.
It just was of no priority.
Between my brother dragging me to the gym.
My mom trying to shove every single home therapy treatment down my throat to get me back to 100% (which btw I will never tell her but those home therapies work wonders or at least make me feel better).
My sister returning from work. Tired, me doing the necessary thing as the younger brother and bothering her.
Talking with my cousin about MAN U BEING A TOTAL AND COMPLETE waste this season. (Let’s hope the new coach turns things around)
Helping my sister set up the Christmas decorations (Yes, Uch I will take credit for my tiny bit of work on the tree).
And a WHOLE LOT OF SLEEPING!
There was no time for me to process information about stocks falling because of a new Covid variant or care about the oil crisis or care about a plethora of other things happening in the world.
I mean I made two videos on Friday because I had a fun idea (and my brother was supposed to be in it but he was shy).
But outside of that, I legit did not care about anything happening on fintwit or finance IG or FinTok or any social media platform.
And honestly, it was BLISS!
Sure, I spoke with my family a couple of times about personal finance, investing, crypto, etc. But generally, those were one-off conversations from the actual important discussions we had about music, travels, work, school, Nigeria, relationships, parents, etc.
You know real-life things that affect us every day. Not the noise of “OMG! What is the Fed going to do to rates?” or “Web3, crypto, metaverse, NFTs and how they will revolutionize the world”.
We had friends come over to the house.
We karaoked? (yeah, we’ll go with that)
We danced
We goofed off.
We embarrassed my mom (cause why not).
We watched good shows (League of Legends Arcane) and bad movies (Well, Red Notice was okay but American Ultra was just ridiculous).
Stayed up way too late.
Ate WAY TOO MUCH.
Basically, we lived life.
This holiday season, if you can and have the means to make it happen. Find a way to LIVE LIFE. Ignore the American Dream and the ever-rolling Hedonic Treadmill we all get on every single morning. And just LIVE LIFE!
Cause there is truly nothing more special than that!
Thank you for reading.🙏🏾
